www.THEEHOUSEDOCTORS.com

A lot of people in the Evansville Indiana area are a bit skeptical about whom they hire as a contractor to perform the work they want done on their home. As a home owner myself I expect the very best , why, because I live here and wake up to it every day. Therefore, we treat each home with the respect of it being our own. To prove it we have gone to great extents to show you, as the customer, we care.

We recently decided to take a course that consists of lead in your home. This course used to not be necessary because lead based paint wasn’t all that big of an issue. The EPA has now had a law passed that all contractors must be lead certified, and must have their company filed as a firm. After July 6, 2010, this law will be in affect. If a contractor is caught without a lead certification card, and/or is not following EPA standards to contain this lead contamination threat; then that contractor can be fined up to $37,500. If this is to happen, guess who the contractor might come after; that’s right, you. Even though he can not do anything to you in a court of law, he can still make your life a bit hectic for a while.

On another issue; it won’t be long before you have to have your home checked for lead if your house pre-dates 1978. If it tests positive then you must have it taken care of before selling. Don’t get upset, this mostly consists of nothing more than a good coat of paint throughout the house both inside and out. If your home has paint chips ready to fall off and must be scraped before paint then you can sit down and cry because then it’s possible it can cost a lot of money.

The reason for these precautions and the grounds the EPA has for doing this is mainly for our children’s sake. What’s the first think your baby does when he or she pickes up somethin off the grond or the floor? Strait to the mouth is were it goes most times. Lead can cause learning abilities, brain damage, nervous system weaknesses, immune system weaknesses, and if exsposure is prolonged then death or insanity can accure. There is a long list of what lead poisoning can do. Check out this site for a larger overview: emedicine.medscape.com/article/815399-overview

W can do a wide array of home repairs and renovations. From building an addition, to fixing a leaky drain pipe under the kitchen sink.

We are Licensed, Lead Certified, Insured, and perfectionist.
